Rhea Chakraborty And Brother Showik Chakraborty Likely To File Their Bail Application In High Court Today - REPORTS
As per Times Now, Rhea Chakraborty and Showik Chakraborty are expected to file their bail application today.
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection to drugs and Sushant Singh Rajput's death case on September 8. Her brother Showik Chakraborty along with a few drug peddlers was arrested a few days prior. Currently, Rhea is reportedly lodged in Byculla jail while Showik is said to be in Taloja jail. While the magistrate and sessions court has rejected their bail application, the brother-sister duo is now expected to move to Bombay High Court.
As reported by Times Now, Rhea and Showik are likely to file their bail applications today with a plea for urgent hearing. Two separate applications will be filed and they will be requesting for urgent hearing so that their pleas could be heard tomorrow by the court. Post her arrest by NCB, Rhea was produced in front of the magistrate court via video conferencing and was later sent to 14-days of judicial custody.
Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Manshinde in a statement given out on Monday had stated that they are not in a hurry to apply for bail. He was quoted saying, "Even if we get a copy of the Order today, we are not in a hurry and moving immediately… we will study the order, it’s implications and developments in the case at the NCB level and then decide. There’s no room for speculation… once it is filed we will share a copy of the bail application.”
Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14, 2020. A drug angle came to fore during the Enforcement Directorate's investigation in the case, post which, Rhea and Showik came on the radar of NCB.
